Welcome YingYangBreezy! Fancy going to Macchu Picchu. jorge.sunyit.edu Ramsey Su has visited there if I remember rightly. It looks a good place for a Globalstar phone and hang gliding.

So far it seems that people are valuing the comfort, security and infrequent calls enough to buy a phone, but will not be using the phones for yak-a-lot calls.

That means that we'll run out of handsets before the minute supply starts to be dented.

That is BAD for Globalstar. It might be fine for the service providers who will make maybe $1000 on the handset and a monthly $30 fee, but it's bad for us.

I'd like to see a bit more emphasis on the minutes.

I suppose it means that when the handsets run out, the price of them and the second-hand price will zoom up and those who will buy them will be those who really want the minutes.

Wireless as a leash? Wait till your friend gets a flat tyre or the boat engine conks out in the jungle. Then you'll find out how free of wireless your friend wants to be.

What price can be assigned to freedom? About $20 an hour in the USA. About $8 an hour in New Zealand. About $3 a day in India. People will give up their freedom and follow somebody else's directions for about those figures. The price of our freedom goes up the better off we are. I bet since your Q! stock went up, you are less inclined to give up freedom to save a $ or earn it.

You can buy a phone by clicking on globalstar.com and following the 'how to buy' urls. [Then perhaps sell it in 3 months when supplies run out for twice what you pay now].
