SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2000--Covad Communications
(NASDAQ: COVD), the leading national broadband services provider utilizing
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology, is now offering Saturday
appointments for services such as installation and maintenance. Covad is the
first broadband DSL provider to implement Saturday service making it
convenient for users, and further solidifying the Company's commitment to
accommodate potential and current Covad DSL end-users. The Saturday service is
offered in a majority of Covad's service areas, depending upon Internet
Service Provider (ISP) participation.

"Customer satisfaction is always top-of-mind at Covad," said Nani Daniels,
director of channel marketing for Covad. "We realize that many end-users
cannot be at home during the week for an installation. By offering
appointments on Saturdays, we're providing a type of flexibility and
convenience that is especially difficult, if not impossible, to find."
Covad's broadband services are offered to home and business users through a
host of Internet Service Providers (ISP) across the nation. Covad is currently
working with select nationwide Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in major
metropolitan areas to offer users the option of Saturday service.

"We're delighted to hear Covad is taking this initiative," said Mike Apgar,
president and CEO of Speakeasy. "Not only do Saturday installations enhance
the relationship between Covad and the end-user, it strengthens our
relationship with customers too. It's a win-win situation for all."

Covad's DSL service allows high-speed, "always on" access to the Internet
and corporate networks through copper phone wires located within homes and
businesses. DSL permits customers to use a dedicated data connection and
eliminates the need for dial-up access.
