dol.gov In the week ending Jan. 1, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 309,000, an increase of 33,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 276,000. The 4-week moving average was 283,750, an increase of 3,500 from the previous week's revised average of 280,250.
New Home Sales for Nov. = - 7.1% to 865k units
census.gov Sales of new one-family houses in November 1999 were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 865,000 according to estimates released today by the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This is 7 (+/-9) percent below the revised October rate of 931,000 and 12 (+/-10) percent below the November 1998 rate of 985,000.
