>>...When Goodyear makes a tire, it works equally well on all cars. Office doesn't work as well on the MAC...>> I wish all GT tires worked equally well on all types of vehicles (actually, some won't even FIT my car). And the Ford keys should fit into Mazdas'... MSFT does NOT monopolize computers nor desktops. There are tons of alternatives - AAPL, SUNW, HWP, SGI, and also IBM, TDM, UIS, ... Does it monopolize the MS-Windows market ? You bet! Just like Ford has a kill on Mustangs and Mustang-related stuff. Being big ain't wrong. But I don't think thats the key here since no one hates Boeing and Phelps Dodge and DuPont and Monsanto and Potash and MEMC and Intel and many others. So, what gives. MOST folks I know who hate MSFT's powers are programmers themselves. And they think Gate/Allen just got lucky. While they - the smart ones that they are (and some indeed are) - have to toil for mere pennyworths. Can God be SO unjust ?!? There, you have it. And if politicians take advantage of these sentiments, well they outta! Would you rather support a partially open standard, or a fully closed one ? I mean, Mac (my mom can't type fsck afraid she might misspell it:) One man's opinion -- Dinesh
