Fred let's get some facts straight:
1) Netscape has major customers like HP, Eli Lilly, Northern Telecom AMD, Intel, At&T (I could go on and on and on and on) who ARE purchasing major site licenses of both browsers and servers)
2) You may not know anyone who's purchased Netscape's Navigator software and you actually sound like the type of person who has little repect for copyright laws and who would consequently not pay for it,BUT, believe it or not there are those out there who are buying the software.
3) Netscape Navigator is not "given away". Never has, never will be. It is available for evaluation purposes only. Only if you're a charitable organization may you use it for free. I happen to know that 99% of corporate users of their products are paying for their licenses.
4) Hmmm. # of Netscape Products? Lets see.. Navigator, Communications Server, Proxy Server, News Server, Mail Server, Merchant System, Community System, Publishing System, and soon (3 months) Navigator Gold, Live Wire, Live Wire Pro. I count 12 products. Well my wife works at Intuit and how many do they have? 10.
Fred- had you chosen to make a logical argument for Netscape being overbought in terms of standard fundamental or technical analysis I probably would have agreed with you. But instead I must dismiss your points on the basis of your lack of information and understanding of Netscape's business.
P.S. The best point you made was:<<Those capable of integrating a browser with their operating system Netscape (ho,ho,ho) Microsoft (oh,oh,oh)>>
I wonder what the DOJ might say about that? |
