NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED

The Company is pleased to welcome Mr. Henry M. Giegerich to the Board of Directors, effective January 6th, 2000.

Mr. Giegerich is a Professional Mining Engineer with many years experience operating and developing mines in the north. From 1982 to 1987 he held the position of President & General Manager of Cominco Alaska Inc., and in this position was responsible for the development of the Red Dog Mine in northwest Alaska, the largest zinc mine in the world. Prior to this appointment, from 1971 to 1981 Mr. Giegerich was progressively assigned advancing senior positions with Cominco Ltd., including Project Engineer on the Black Angel Mine Project in Greenland, Project Manager for the Polaris Mine Project on Little Cornwallis Island, NWT, (the furthest north metal mine in the world) and finally Cominco Vice President, Northern Group, responsible for operations of the Con Mine (Yellowknife, NWT), Pine Point Mine (Pine Point, NWT) and the Polaris Mine.

Mr. Giegerich's broad spectrum of northern operational experience includes planning and economic analysis of major mining projects, and negotiating agreements with various Government and non-government organizations to deal with such concerns as native economic involvement, environmental impacts, plus development of transportation systems and commercial infrastructure. Mr. Giegerich's experience with these aspects of northern projects will be of significant assistance to Starfield as the company continues to develop the Ferguson Lake (Nunavut Territory) Nickel-Copper-Platinum-Palladium-Cobalt project located in Canada's lower Eastern Arctic.

Since 1988 Mr. Giegerich has acted as a mineral industry consultant to various clients throughout the world (including the United Nations) and currently sits on the Board of Directors for Viceroy Resources Corporation.

On behalf of the Board of Directors
