A key element of the new testing services will enable e-retailers to identify potential problems resulting from large volumes of traffic on their sites. Testing goals will include verifying compatibility with browsers, databases and application servers, as well as answering questions such as 'what number of concurrent users will cause a decrease in response time?'. Data Dimensions is using its 'Tripos' test methodology for e-commerce applications, as well as dedicated Test Centres where different combinations of browser, ISP, hardware and software platforms can be tested - replicating virtually any Internet scenario. In the Test Centres, Data Dimensions can test against more than four hundred different types of PCs and Macs, with a variety of operating systems including Windows 3x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and CE, together with the Macintosh operating systems, Linux and the leading versions of Unix. Libraries of more than 1,500 applications are held in the Test Centres, as well as all the leading video cards, sounds cards and printers. As part of its portfolio of e-commerce testing services, Data Dimensions is also offering Test Consulting and a programme of Test Training courses.
