The problem you have identified was gonna be solved by Java.

Jave is dead as PC alternative although there may well be life in non-traditional PC apps.

As far as AMD chasing those profits and finding nothing at the end of the rainbow.

AMD is 3 months away from significant profits in Q2 IMHO.

The idea that something is going to radically change the wintel monopoly in the next 1-2 yrs is ludicrous.

Now over 5-10 yrs may be a different story.
