Could be because of the quiet period,<<< Barrett, Otellini, and Intel live in a binary world. It is either on or off. That they can understand. But too bad we don't live in a completely binary world. We live in a world where there are also many shades of gray. It is obvious Intel management has not a clue how to handle this situation. Gateway misses its numbers *in part* because they could not get proper inventory from their prinicpal supplier, but the Street punishes Intel more severely than Gateway. Intel and this thread saw this problem coming months ago. Instead of addressing the issue head on (like Johnson & Johnson did with the Tylenol situation), Intel sends some bean counter to have breakfast with Wall Street bigs and mumble something about business is great but we are struggling to meet demand - leaving the Street to provide a whole range of explainations and possiblities. For guys who are as smart as they think they are, Intel management can be real stupid. Mary
