All longs and holders of IATV: I believe this is very big news. If you didn't want to read the previous post because it was so long, please at least read the following.

With their show completed and accepted for national broadcast on PBS, Louisiana Public Broadcasting started thinking of how they could use digital technology to make the program a deeper, richer, and more educational experience. They joined with a New York- and Los Angeles-based technology partner, ACTV.

And they conceived an interactive version of Kate Chopin. Teachers will be able to see suggestions on how to teach Chopin's fiction to high school and college students. Students will be able to get more social and historical background. And at-home viewers will be able to hear readings of Chopin's work by actress JoBeth Williams.

Through technology partner ACTV's affiliation with the TCI?now AT&T?cable system, the interactive Kate Chopin will also be one of the first, if not the very first, interactive TV programs that will be available to the general public. Research based on that cablecast will be valuable in the further development of digital interactive television.
