<<Richard, Class III license...to own a machine gun.>>Jack!

On the cable tv channel, either The Learning Channel
or the Discovery Channel, they broadcast quite often
about 3 one hour shows called "Navy SEALs, The Silence Option."

The first one is super, and the next two repeat lots of stuff
and have too much talking. But the first one shows good techniques
using their rifles in semi and full mode, along with a "real" machine gun.

NIce to watch them, and its not actors but a semi Navy pitch to get our
young men to join up. Lots of live fire "action" scenes in exercises
to prepare the men as best as possible for the real thing. Mostly just
to condition them to fire live ammo as a group so they can taste whats
its like off a strick controled firing range.

My tour back in 1968 I remember this big guy who always wanted the
point position because that person fired full auto on his m16 upon
contact, while we in the back did semi so as not to empty the 6 to 8
magazines we carried too quickly.

Believe it or not, that guy was not very effective on full.

Now I think the m16 full is only a 3 shot burst per trigger pull
for the m16's given to an average gi.

Your story "bears" repeating.

Speaking of Bear Guns reminds me of a story.

This City Slicker went to bear country and wanted to hunt bear with his
pistol. He checked into his motel and looked around town and found the
local pub and went in to wet his whistle. Next guy at the bar was a
grizzled old bear hunter. They struck up a conversation and the city
fella told the old timer of his plans. The old timer inquired about his
pistol and he told him it was a 357 Magnum with max loads. The old timer
advised him to remove the front sight. "Why should I do that" complained
the slicker. "Because it won't hurt so much when the bear pokes it up
your butt" replied the old timer!!
