Elizabeth: $400 MSN Rebate: It would seem that all you need is a telephone line to subscribe to MSN. If you go to Best Buy in San Diego you can pick up a MSN packet. In it are two agreements - one for Ca/Oregon.and another for all else.Looks like you need to wait about 60 days to get their $400 "loan" (which you don't have to pay back) sent to you, and that's when you could cancel if you live in CA or Oregon. In the meantime you pay for a two- maybe three months of MSN before they mail you your "rebate" (6-8 weeks after approval of your credit- can check on status of rebate with a phone no they give). Interestingly, there was no line-up for the packet - although a customer in the store told me of a friend in LA waiting in line for four hours. Hasn't hit SD yet? Also it looks like you can double or triple dip: according to the agreement "you may receive only one rebate for each new MSN Access account". At Office Depot they told me any combination of electronics and/or software purchases would qualify, and Best Buy covers at least PCs and Digital Cameras, although I would double check these statements, as the agreement only talks of a "qualifying product". Furthermore the agreement states that you must make your purchase no later than January 31st, 2000, so MSFT probably won't bother modifying the deal.
