World Heart plant in works

World Heart Corp. is busy finalizing a deal that would see the fledgling company move towards manufacturing.
World Heart chairman and CEO Rod Bryden said the artificial heart manufacturer hopes to sign a deal for "a small manufacturing plant" in the next two weeks.
World Heart Corp. was incorporated just over one year ago with hopes to manufacture and sell an artificial heart.
The company is now conducting three clinical tests and expects to perform its first test on a human being in two years, Bryden said in an interview with Ottawa Business Journal's TV Edition.
"We'll be introducing a product by the end of this year and that product is the one that will go into humans. About two years from now it will go into a human being as part of our several hundreds of clinical trials," said Bryden.
"Following that is when thousands of people around the world will have their lives saved," he said.
