Mr. Todd Carter reports
Infowave Software's Symmetry wireless software is being bundled with every AccessLink II pager from Glenayre Electronics, Inc. Glenayre unveiled the bundle today at the consumer electronics show being held this week in Las Vegas.
The bundle combines Infowave's Symmetry desktop software with Glenayre's AccessLink IIS pager and provides mobile users with a seamless way to stay connected to their Microsoft Outlook E-mail and other important information when they are away from their desk or office. The AccessLink II was recently awarded best pager by Mobile Computing and Communications Magazine.
Symmetry is desktop software that automatically forwards E-mail, calendars, meeting reminders, tasks and contact lists to a user's pager or mobile phone. Since the AccessLink II pager is a two-way device, users can also initiate or reply to E-mail messages, request calendars and task lists and query their Outlook contact lists. Messages sent from the AccessLink IIS appear as if they were sent from the user's desktop with their regular E-mail address.
"We are very pleased to see Glenayre bundling Symmetry with their award-winning pager," says Jim McIntosh, president and chief executive officer of Infowave. "This wireless bundle is shipping today and will give mobile people unprecedented access to the important Outlook information that is normally only available to them at their desk. Symmetry is targeted at wireless network operators and hardware vendors who want to add a new level of functionality and usefulness to their existing networks and devices."
About the AccessLink II
Tagged as the ferrari of pagers by Fortune Magazine, AccessLink II uses ReFlex, allowing users to receive and reply to messages using a single-button keyboard. With three nationwide networks covering 90 per cent of the United States, ReFlex is the industry standard for two-way data communications. Weighing only 4.2 ounces, but boasting two megabytes of memory, AccessLink II stores up to 10,000 characters of messages with a battery life that is two to four times longer than competing products. Glenayre asserts that AccessLink II is the lightest, lowest-cost pager on the market today.
