The Lucent CEO appeared on CNBC earlier this morning, stating that the earnings shortfall was due to production problems from greatly increased demand for optical equipment. This, as I see it, has no effect whatsoever on QUALCOMM or CDMA. There was nothing in Lucent's announcement that even mentioned any changes in the market for CDMA equipment.

The bottom line is that, because Lucent is a big player and has an impact on the STOCK PRICES of other tech companies, including QUALCOMM, this is probably a reasonably good buying opportunity for QCOM.
