Parametric Technology Corporation Receives $12 Million Windchill Order from Siemens AG of Germany

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 2000--

Worldwide Standardization on Windchill to Address

"Design Anywhere, Build Anywhere" Initiative

Parametric Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:PMTC) today announced that it received a $12 million order for Windchill software and services from the Power Generation Group of Siemens AG, a world leader in electrical engineering and electronics. Siemens, with headquarters in Berlin and Munich, operates some 500 production facilities in over 50 countries.

The Siemens Power Generation Group, which operates in the US through its Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation holding, is one of the largest companies in the international power plant market. In order to address their challenges of market globalization and increasing industry deregulation, they will deploy web-based Windchill to 3,500 end-users in six facilities located in Germany and North America. The software portion of the order, which included Windchill Foundation, Windchill Info*Engine and the SAP Adapter, Windchill ProductView, Windchill Product Configurator and Windchill Information Modeler, was shipped to the company during PTC's first fiscal quarter (ended January 1, 2000).

"Siemens Power Generation Group has been commited to business strategies which use the Internet to create a competitive advantage for our customers. We are using electronic commerce to systematically integrate customers and suppliers into our operations," said Mr. Joergen Ole Haslestad, president, Steam Turbines and Electrical Generators, Siemens Power Generation Group. "By networking a large share of our business processes through the Internet with PTC's Windchill, we are gaining further benefits of cost, quality and time. After an extensive evaluation, we're confident that Windchill will also help ensure effective management of company knowledge by intensifying and streamlining communication across all operations and borders. As a result, we can better focus our strength on developing new products and services that will meet our customers' needs."
