Skiawal: "Universal xDSL service?" LOL! No wonder he deferred on that question. It may happen, but not soon. The question is a little premature, me thinks. Think of it this way. The LEC's relative ubiquity of current service offerings didn't arrive over-night. It's taken 90 some odd years to reach the service coverage we here in the U.S. have come to take for granted(you should see what some of the older central offices look like inside...jeeezus...). And it's also a never-ending build-out. xDSL is merely one more evolutionary aspect to the ever-changing, and growing, network. Uhhhh...and this isn't to say it'll take ADSL(and the variants) that long to build out. It won't. But it will take time.

Time, and training of personnel. Therein lies the rub. The training, both school-wise and experiential, DEFINITELY is gonna take some time. It's, imho, the root cause of some folks current difficulties with their particular LEC. Bell's personnel are a wee bit behind the curve, and are trying to catch/keep up. This, too, will change with time.

Meanwhile, like others I continue to add to my WSTL holdings while it's down here in the single digits.

Regards!

John~
