Gary,

Agree, stock direction is driven by sentiments, especially tech stocks. Since I can't measure or understand such sentiments, I filter them out completely and focus on the fundamentals.

QCOM dropped from $75 to $38 a couple months before it started its rise 15 months ago. Now the stock is over $1000/share if splits are taken account for. Though this is just one case and can not examplify every stock, it shows that public sentiments can be wrong. For trading, sentiment matters. For long term investor, you can bet that the public sentiments would catchup when a company starts showing explosive growth, which is what Palm is doing.

Like a diamond, Palm is wrapped up by the 3COM mud. Otherwise, I would never have the chance to buy such a great company at such a discount.
