I think many would have a much different opinion of who got the bad end of that stick...

Then they're not very well informed investors. If you check the records, I'm 99% sure you'll find that in the last quarter of Digital independence their net profit was higher than the net profit of any Compaq quarter since the takeover....and I'm talking net not cents/share. Actually I wouldn't be surprised it that quarter's net was more than Compaq's total net since.

If it wasn't for Palmer I'm sure I'd be a lot richer if I was still holding DEC shares. The biggest mistake of my life was replacing my DEC shares with CPQ at the takeover. I should have put it all in JAWZ instead of the measly $3K I did speculate with. The 8K shares of JAWZ that I've got are worth more than my Compaq holdings that I paid $60K for. But I had too much faith in Alpha and AltaVista.
