Duncan,

Checked again with my wife. She sees the phone bills each month. Down here in SoCal we're paying $10+ for just basic local thru PacBell. My wife pays $20/month for her airtouch cellular, which only allows 20 minutes a month. After that it's like .45/minute. When I asked her whether she might be interested in a plan which allowed unlimited local calling for a flat $29.95 she balked. "I just don't use the phone that much." But after she thought about the
COMBINED monthly charges of our wireline local cost ($10+)and what cellular is currently costing us ($20)she realized that we're already paying at least $30 a month for local service!! (and we also have call waiting and caller ID - how much do they cost?!). The bottom line is that both of us realized that we're already paying the same rate as we would pay with Cricket, and our present Airtouch service doesn't allow for unlimited local wireless minutes, which Cricket does (oh I wish Cricket would come to town!)
And I'm sure our situation is no different than many families out there. Can anyone else give examples?
Charlie
