Jim- Dell is really performing poorly today...and it really doesn't make any sense...Have you seen any news out there? (I haven't)..GTW/CPQ doing very well/well....rest of "new economy" stocks raging...Even linguring doubts about the quarter (did they get enough chips) should not tank the stock like this...? Gateway's problem should have been seen as more Gateway-specific (similar to Lucent)..but it doesnt appear that the market buys that.... If we were down a dollar, I'd say OK....but someone (big) must be selling...time for the big boys to step up here...
I think the PR "problem" from October has hurt us here..Dell not getting the benefit of the doubt...

It is clear, though, that Dell is now considered a different type of stock (by the market)...RIGHTLY OR WRONGLY...than your EMCs, Sun, Ariba, etc...Dell seems to be on a different, slower appreciation plan....even if it embodies the internet, "new economy" as much as any firm...

I think it remains critical that Dell make its quarter this time (.21)...The rest of year SHOULD take of itself (with Microsoft 2000, Intel upgrades)....1st quarter, especially, should have some outstanding Y-O-Y comps...We could get a 50% y-o-y EPS pop...if that can't move the stock....??????
