Nitt, the article saidIntel's revenues were $25.8 billion in 1999, giving it a 16 percent market share. NEC, in second position, had revenues of $9.2 billion, representing a 5.8 percent market share.
You said: They are only estimating revenue from semiconductors...
Good point. He ought to say it though. Some data: according to trusty SI's financial's page on Intel, they did $26,273 Million in 1998, overall and have already done $21,177 million so far this year. 30 billion possible for all 1999? Intel did $7,328 in Q3, but would need 20% over that in Q4 to hit 30 billion for the year. Probably not, but definitely in 2000.
This part NEC, in second position, had revenues of $9.2 billion, representing a 5.8 percent market share. Anyone else remember when Intel went from 6th place world-wide (behind MOT, TI and the rest Japanese companies) to first in about 3 years? I'm guessing that was late 80s, early 90s when they took first place. Then, the original Pentium made it a rout (now almost 3:1 over #2).
