OT>Re: Browser Bow-Wows

Browser version is important, but it's not the only factor. I had spent the last few months wrestling with a machine with: Win95, Netscape 4.5, 32Mb memory, and an older version of Dial-up Networking and TCP/IP support. What a mess! Talk about the barefoot shoemaker (I'm work with software and databases).

I just got a machine with the following: 96Mb memory, IE 5.0, up-to-date Win98. Oh, what a relief it is! :-)

The execrable state of software quality comes to bite Internauts. Modern software is particularly bad at releasing resources when it is done with them. One form of this is the "memory leak." I recommend a shareware package called MemTurbo. This software monitors your RAM memory, recovering chunks from naughty programs and other somnolent code. [BTW, my only interest in the publishers of MemTurbo is as a satisfied customer.]
