Because Novell is 100 times more complex than required for what they do, whilst having a 100 times less functionality than required, they are the epitome of cost-of-ownership problems. Novell would have pay customers large sums of money to make the use of their products cost-effective. I am not aware of a single company that can survive using a business model wherein the company pays the customers. Nobody is fooled by Novell's sudden conversion to open technology, object-orientation, et cetera. They are the epitome of closed systems.

BTW, do you ever NOT want to see the morass of unmaintainable spaghetti which underlies their failed networking model. Probably some of the worst software ever cobbled together. More like a cancerous growth than a system. The sooner they get out of the way and let some qualified team of professionals surgically remove that cancer they call Novell, the better.
