It is best suited for use in handheld products needing small but powerful embedded systems. MicroOS allows for increased audio resolution and simple editing and file management. It is ideal for applications ranging from dictation and voice memos to CD-quality stereo music (see "MicroOS Audio" below). MicroOS can be applied in a wide range of devices using ATA- or IDE- compatible memory, and is particularly well suited for use with flash memory. MicroOS AUDIO e.Digital has developed a version of its MicroOS file management system specially adapted for use with larger music files. The company has incorporated MicroOS Audio into a portable CD-quality music player and recorder that includes a PC interface. This system is targeted at the emerging market for online music sales over the Internet.
