Correction:

The Isley's covered the Topnotes original of "Twist & Shout". But the Isley Brothers' version came out in 1962, before anyone in the US of A had ever heard of the Beatles. The Beatles version outsold the I's....no surprise.

Also, Jimi Hendrix played in the Isley's back up group in 1964 under the name Jimmy James.

ps. I know, it's Friday night and it looks like I must be some kind of social wallflower, posting on SI. Just want you to know I've got the flu, otherwise I'd probably be out doing the town with Heather Locklear or such.....don't tell my wife.
