Currently, I liked JDSU the most. Why, JDSU has a great management team like CSCO. They are doing what CSCO was doing 7 years ago. They have the strongest technical team and they are buying every technology they don't have. So they are going to be CSCO of the optical networking. Since passive fiberoptic components are mainly sold to system integrators. Only the one has volume and quality can get the large order. JDSU is the largest independent supplier and has the most advanced technology. They are moving to laser/receiver/transmitter area which is a high margin area too. ETEK also is a good one but only half the size of JDSU. JDSU would be a one stop shopping center for optical networking components. Anyway, JDSU, ETEK, GLW and SDLI all looked very good. SDLI is likely to be brought by JDSU.
Since 1996, the street has been projecting the passive fiberoptic component market for at least 10% a year. Last Oct, the market for 2004 was projected at 14 B., but it has increased to 21B by 2003 today. The demand is huge and I am sticking on what I know.
