Fri 7 Jan 100 News Release
Mr. Frank Puskas reports
Diamond drill equipment has arrived at the GoldenPoly polymetallic
Zn-Cu-Au-Ag and LodeGold-Ag project and drilling will commence the week of
Jan. 10, 2000. The GoldenPoly project is situated in Pense township in
Northeastern Ontario, 30 miles southeast of Kirkland Lake and 20 miles
north of New Liskeard/Cobalt. The company has staked and/or purchased an
additional 28 contiguous claim units, bringing the total to 45 claim units
(1,800 acres) in order to encompass potential extensions of the
mineralization identified to date.
Previous drilling by NovaWest on the GoldenPoly intersected layered
mineralization. The upper zone of borehole GP-97-3 intersected 29.6 feet
grading 1.63 grams per tonne Au, 0.089 per cent Cu and 1.30 per cent Zn or
the equivalent of 3.55 per cent Zn over 29.59 feet. The upper zone of
borehole GP-97-4 intersected 12.92 feet grading 1.82 g/t Au, 0.125 per cent
Cu, 2.43 per cent Zn and 3.93 g/t Ag or the equivalent of 4.93 per cent Zn
over 12.92 feet. A lower zone in borehole GP-97-4 intersected 40 feet of
stratified Au-bearing, Zn-enriched base metals grading 0.0855 g/t Au,
0.1599 per cent Cu, 2.28 per cent Zn and 1.48 g/t Ag over 25.26 feet. The
two mineralized zones, averaging 28 feet in thickness are conformable
within an east-striking, south-dipping (50 degrees) sequence of
metasediments with intercalated (komatilitic) volcanics. The mineralized
zones have a strike length in excess of 1,000 metres and a southwesterly
grade increase in direction of the identified geophysical anomaly and rake
of mineralization. Earlier drilling by others intersected 1.93 per cent Zn
over 28.9 feet, 1.88 per cent zinc across 29.7 feet and 1.42 per cent Zn
over 43 feet.
This drill program is the first of a series planned for numerous of the
company's Ontario projects in the coming months. The total drilling footage
of the programs is expected to exceed 15,000 feet and will be the most
extensive drill program undertaken by NovaWest to date. Specifics on the
other projects to be drilled will be forthcoming.
