Since I have accumulated quite few shares during the last few years, I would like to discuss the followings:

a) "AOL licensed the GMST's technology to create customized program guides for AOL TV. I think that GMST works with/over Liberates technology."

I agree with you, but it does not make any sense to me why AOL does not go with GMST/Liberate since it has already licensed IPG. Going for GMST's rival Tivo which does not charge for royalty fee (FREE!, linux system), AOL will save a lot of money down the road! Will AOL chose Vito enentually and now it is in the process of switching? AOL mentioned about pending big announcement about its WEBTV, will it hurt GMST badly or not? Switching cost will be high only if IPG goes into the main street.

b) "I wish Gemstar would buy TIVO"

Why? GMST's IPG is proprietary. Tivo is free. It will hurt GMST's margin tremendously unless GMST just want to buy it and kill it, which I don't think practical and wise.

c) "Federal Communications Commission chairman William Kennard said: "Come up with a solution by April or face regulation"

My gut feeling tells me that the announcement will be something like "promote open competition" so the gov won't be accused of killing some weaker ones and promote the monopoly in the industry.

d) Just want to ask someone why GMST did not participate yesterday's tech rally. Did it mean there were not a lot of institutional buyings? NTAP/SEBL all went up big time! Also, GMST's chart looks ugly too: price/MACD & % R's divergence has been widening since 11/99 on weekly chart. Pls advice since I am not a good TA person.

thanks

Hanney
