Your problem really smells like a cache filling. Although disk space may abound aplenty, file handles and like stuff does't. A suggestion, clear cache a few times throughout the day and see if the warning returns. I've observed that Win98's quick to sound the alarm of impending doom, but slow to realize pre-emptive action's already fixed the situation. If this works, we'll need to look at a permanent remedy.
