Next week is a busy one on Wall Street. In addition to the weekly economic reports, a number of conferences are scheduled and we start into the earnings reporting season with a few high profile companies scheduled to report. On Tuesday, we get weekly chain store sales. December Import and Export Prices are released Wednesday. The eagerly awaited numbers, however, are due at the end of the week. On Thursday we get December Retail Sales and the December PPI (Producer Price Index). Friday will see the Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization numbers released. The most anticipated numbers, however, are in the CPI (Consumer Price Index), due out Friday. Briefing.com reports the following conferences and meetings scheduled for the week. The 10th Annual Salomon Smith Barney Entertainment, Media and Telecom Conference takes place in Palm Springs from the 9th to the 13th. FOX, Q, DCLK, AT, WCOM, USTR, and CNET are scheduled to present. From the 10th to the 13th the 18th Annual Chase H&Q Healthcare Conference takes place in San Francisco. MRX, KOOP, JNJ, DNA, and AMGN are due to present. Also in San Francisco is the DLJ Internet Conference on the 11th to the 13th. YHOO, AOL, AKAM, CNET, FMKT, WBVN and ELNK are presenting at this conference. In Miami this week, Merrill Lynch is holding a Computer Services Conference with CATP, PAYX, CEN, RAZF, SAPE, VIAN and SCNT scheduled to present. Earnings season is getting underway, and there are a number of companies reporting in the coming week. On Monday Vitesse Semiconductor is due to report. International Paper, E-tek Dynamics, Seagate Technology and Yahoo are due Tuesday. Network Equipment and Rational Software are expected Wednesday. On Thursday, we should hear from Applied Microcircuits, Biogen, Intel and Rambus. Charles Schwab is due to report Friday . " |
