Gotta be careful with fooling with home hair products.
I know exactly what you mean.

I used to put those low peroxide colors on my hair
all the time when I was in college and law school.
Kinda fun. But the eggplant shade stopped me in
my tracks.....It actually didn't look that bad. It was
just too dark.
OTOH, I was at Saks today. I think there is a rule
that the girls in the cosmetics areas are required to
have jet black hair and pale white make-up with bold
red lips. Did you get the handout on that rule?<g>
