I respectfully must disagree with this statement Brian, since it violates the very integrity of the Holy Scriptures. " US " refers to the triune personality of Almighty God, that being, Father , Son and Holy Spirit. Do you believe in the triune God as revealed in scriptures?.

I believe the scriptures teach that Adam did die spiritually that day and physical death which was the consequence of his sin followed years plus later. Spiritual death brought about the severing of his relationship with His Creator. He found his identity and meaning to his existence via this relationship. When he rebelled against God and sinned , he immediately saw his " true " condition , he then was left to find the meaning for his existence in things " created " , which is a lesson in futility which I hope we all have learned. Fallen man has a " spirit " dead to God, a soul ( his self conciouness ) , and a " body. Christians are those who God has made alive in their spirits from this eternal separation from Himself and placed within our spirits the Divine nature or as the Bible calls it Eternal life. We enjoy a living relationship with our Creator and now find our meaning to our existence worshipping and serving our Great God and Saviour , Jesus Christ.
