The better question to ask is, Why would a first-tier provider bother licensing another company's application when it can provide one of its own? The stuff ESAF is doing does not compare in difficulty or criticality to the core biometrics provided by the various vendors.

Or, why bother going with ESAF when they can also go with BioNextrix, I/O Software, or Identix? The newest reviews put ESAF in the middle of the pack.

At the present time, ESAF has shipped a small fraction of the application software IDX has already shipped that accompanies its hardware.

Anyone here predicting that IDX, hardware price/performance leader, is going to license ESAF software?

BTW, my best guess is that ESAF is up because some heavy buyer has misinterpreted rumors of a move to Seattle to imply a MSFT connection.
