Joseph,

With respect, I think you should make your evaluation and then decide what to do with it. I evaluated TS when it first came out and it was far from ready for prime time in my opinion. However I stuck with it (I was also a the time a Windows on Wall Street user and also a QCharts user - am still) and I think the product is getting close to being ready for prime time.

My rationale for wanting TS was the more powerful systems language. I'm systems integration consultant with programming experience - I find Easy Language much more powerful than competing offerings that I've used. Metastock has a loyal following and I'm sure its a fine product, but I wanted TS mostly for Easy Language.

Now the funny thing is that I'm mostly a chartist now - candlesticks, support and resistance and a few MA's and that's about all I need. I was much more into systems trading back when i made these decisions. However, I'm very comfortable with TS and actually enjoy using it (when its not crashing!) so I'm not about to switch.

I haven't looked at Omega's financials, but assuming they have the wherewithall to stick it out, I suspect that the product issues will go away and my investment will be protected.

I do think that the company mishandled the product release, but I've seen that happen with many software vendors, large and small. The key thing is whether they have the resources and vision to last. I suspect they do.

There's a lot of folks on the omega list server that find more time to bitch than trade I think! (No offense to people with legit gripes, I'm just part of the "life is too short to bitch" crowd. Like trading, if TS wasn't making the cut for me, I'd cut my losses and buy something else.)

PS, I am far from a pollyanna, I myself returned earlier verions of the product. In the end, for systems trading, I liked what it had to offer and that's why I bought. Hopefully you have bought a tool that is right for you.

PSPS, I think QCharts should be in any real time traders tool kit. You never know when you will need a back up, plus its all server driven which means you don't need to store the data locally for every stock in the world. I suppose Omega's new product may compete with QCharts one day...

Now on Monday I will be running a clean install of SP4b. If it works, I will post here. If it fails you will hear that too!
