I think it is POSSIBLE to ridicule good and reasonable science by throwing in spaceship landing strips, but I do not think it is fair. By your standard, everything that has not already been firmly decided upon in the field of archaeology should be made fun of, and yet is is actually a very new science, and is just starting to benefit from technologies like DNA testing.
