PB - RE: Cumine stepping

The reason I asked is because someone on JC's site found a link to a PDF at Intel's website about Product Change Notification. It says

"Pentium® III Processor 0.18m m A-2 to
B-0 Core Stepping Conversion in the
FC-PGA and SECC2 Package"

and

"Forecasted Key Milestones:
Date Customer Must be Ready to Receive Post-Conversion Material: April 7, 2000
Date of First Availability of Post-Conversion Material: April 7, 2000"

and

"Description of Change to the Customer:
The Pentium® III processors 0.18m in the SECC2 and FC-PGA package will undergo the following changes to improve
product performance and allow the introduction of higher processor frequencies:
· Core processor stepping change from A-2 to B-0;
· CPU ID change and microcode update changes per table below.
· Correction of errata. (Please refer to the latest revision of the Pentium® III Processor Specification Update)."

After looking at another PDF linked to from this one, I noticed the current stepping for Cumine is A2 as this PDF states.

This must be what Chuck and Paul have said about a new stepping for Cumine.

This PDF says the new stepping first availability isn't until April 7. In Intel's words, this is what that means -

"The date of “First Availability of Post-Conversion Material” is the earliest date that customers may expect to receive the
post converted product. This date is determined by the projected depletion of inventory at the time of the PCN
publication. The depletion of inventory may be impacted by fluctuating supply and demand, therefore, customers should
be prepared to receive the post converted product on this date, however, may continue to receive the pre converted
product until the inventory is depleted."

The PDF also gives the new S-Spec for the new stepping processors. And 256KB is the only size cache listed. If this new stepping won't be available until April (if I'm reading this correctly) then Cumine 512KB probably won't also be available until then.

Has anyone seen one of these "Product Change Notification" PDFs before? We might be able to figure out how accurate "first availability" is.

Here's the link to see it - ftp://download.intel.com/design/pcn/processors/d0000904.htm
