Robert, that repost is crazy! You've been an excellent contributor for so long that that i am very that surprised would repost that kind of foolishness. Maybe you should have a cup of coffee and read it again.

Do you really believe that it is reasonable to make the jump from Vodafone announcing a "single global Internet platform" to (as the repost claims) Vodafone announcing that GBLX (and Hutchinson Asia Crossing) will be the global bandwidth provider of choice ?

First, i am almost certain that a "single global Internet platform" refers to a common software solution that will be used by their various current and future wireless internet devices.

I could think of a few other things that a "single global Internet platform" could also refer too, but under no circumstances would i agree that a "single global Internet platform" could ever, even in the most loose usage, refer to the physical network that traffic would be carried on.

Second, if the poster was correct that a "single global Internet platform" refers to the physical network (and let me repeat: I do not believe that), it would bring us to the request at the end of the post:
If anyone can name another company that could be the company Vodafone is referring to, I would like to hear it

The short list would include AT&T, WCOM, BT and DT. I don't see a reason to type a longer list, since the whole idea is so idiotic and stupid it is not even worth discussing.
