<<anyone take Craig's advice and buy PTSC?>>

I didn't buy it on Craig's advice, but I do have some PTSC. There was an interesting link on the SI PTSC this morning that brought upm a post from RB I think. Very intertesting.....and I tend to agree. I think PTSC is undiscovered by investors, but very well known within the industry and am pretty certain they will be bought out by a SUNW or other big boy within the next year.

FROM RB -kalihiwai. Remember the timing here. This is the next generation of these kinds of embedded processors. Previously, Motorola, Harris and all variations of mfgs that make a clone of the 8052 and cousins have been already built in to applications. I have owned my own company at one time that manufactured single board computers. When the PC came out, we didn't believe it would stick since IBM had tried it a couple of time before that w/no luck. What really amazed me is how long we continued to sell product to almost all of our OEMs for years afterward. The point here is that once development is done on a product, the OEM continues to produce it to recover engineering costs. Even though the PTSC1000 has been here for a short while, I believe it is fairly new on the scene because of its design and power. In the benchmarks conducted on the Forth.com site, it crushed all but on competitor, and almost equaled the performance of even that chip (which is a newer chip). This next generation of the PTSC1000 (ne:05), will be significantly faster than any of those on the Forth.com site. But what you have to note, is that all of those processors on the Forth.com site do not have an alternate instruction set that executes Java byte code in hardware. The timing is nearly perfect for Patriot here. All of those kits out there are not for the older existing applications, but for use with Java. Remember, if Torvalds is involved with Crusoe, they are going to run Linux on that chip. Linux has millions of lines of code. The Patriot solution is a smaller kernel that is a torrid Java mini engine designed for a small hand held wireless device (and the thousands of other applications that will be ramping up this year). Patriot can deliver now and will margin that lead to be selected in applications underway now.

One final point. Obviously the PTS design in addition to being a Java engine is also a very formidable chip for embedded applications that use the Forth and C++ language.

IMHO, as these companies who are embarking on major designs for this market will get so hot that Patriot will not live very long as Patriot. They have such a lead on everyone that an audition is most likely. Possible partners include SUN, IBM, Harris, Hughes, Motorola, Siemens, etc., etc., etc.

Remember, its not the cost to engineer such a chip that would cause such an acquisition, certainly all of those big players have mucho buckos, but it is purely the timing. This market is emerging like a rocket (witness the trouble Lucent just had. their earnings were affected because they can't convert to new technology fast enough), and to design a chip like Patriot already has is a lot more than a couple of months.

IMHO, I truly see acquisition. SUN just did a similar acquisition a few months ago. They bought the stock of that company for $30.00 / share.

Peace and good fortune to all.

OT - Does anybody have problems with E-Trade loading pages ? Lately, every time I click on something...it doesn't matter what, it like loads just a little of the page and stops, or it loads a page with jibberish at the top of the page and thats it. I have to keep clicking on my browser back button and do it again and again and again....sometimes for half an hour, before it loads the page you want. I have spent time on the phone with e-trade...they keep saying it is a cache problem, but I delete my Temporary Internet files and clear my cache constantly. The problem is getting worse and worse...so bad in fact, I am thinking of transfering my account, as trading has become too damned frustrating.

TIA...KG
