A year to year comparison of the group performance is always
interesting. 1999 was an outstanding year for the
semi-equips as a whole. The overall gain was 132 percent
while the SOX-X was up 101 percent. 23 out of the 36 stocks
were up more than 100 percent. Only 2 stocks, VECO and
SFAM lost value for the year at -12 and -24 percent
respectively.
