Bux: Thanks. Appreciate your explanation. Your description then would fit the idea that the basic CDMA remains, so HDR is CDMA but with some time delay features to improve its performance.

That seems to fit the idea of using HDR within the IS 95 system.

Still curious then why there are two paths proposed by the Q for robust data:

HDR

1XRTT then 3XRTT

Is this because HDR is for use in 2 or 2.5 gen - where a full migration to 3rd gen 3XRTT (within CDMA 2000) is not planned or "best case"?
