KLP, while thumbing through the Jan./Feb. 2000 issue of National Geographic Traveler Magazine I came across an interesting squib with photograph on page 24. The photo is that of a San Francisco Taxi with the logo word "Yahoo!" extending from the front to the rear wheel. The squib reads:

WIRED RIDE Taxi passengers in San
Francisco can surf the web or send
e-mail in one of ten "Yahoo!"-em-
blazoned cabs, equipped with laptops
and wireless modems at no extra charge
to the fare.

Could this be our Ricochet? I assume it must be as I know of no other product which can provide this performance. Would it be Ricochet 1 or 2? Probably it is the former as the magazine's date lags about 2 months behind its composition. On the other hand I am not certain whether Ricochet 1 works while a vehicle is in motion. We are informed, of course, that Ricochet 2 is fully operational at vehicle speeds up to 70 mph. Either way, it is interesting and excellent publicity. Can you visualize the effect this must have on laptop users visiting San Francisco from other locales, even those where Ricochet exists? After all, Ricochet still is not a household word in the world of business, though it soon may be. Would the publicity also indicate some form of alliance with Yahoo?
