It'd be especially interesting to have answers to these questions:

.After arriving at his apt., who was the first person Jim spoke
... to? When?

.Who was the first person to tell him about Suzanne's murder?
... When was he told?

But as noted, it seems to me that the car issue is hard to get round. Can we think of any way in which it could have been done without a car being involved. As I see it, any "no-car" theory would absolutely require that Suzanne have been killed at the place where she was found.
