engineer: Thanks as usual. George Gilder's use of TDMA was a shorthand that was misleading unfortunately.

So now we have two CDMA data systems.

The timetable is very interesting.

1XRTT late this year, with the handset chips available now and the base station chips in March, then testing, then commercial roll out.

HDR early next year.

Now 1XRTT is being called phase one of CDMA 2000 with 3XRTT the follow on. When will 3XRTT be available?

Is the idea that even though 1XRTT will be introduced first in time (and carry a doubling in voice capacity with it), that HDR is such a strong addition to the installed IS 95 systems that it will be a major factor prior to the introduction of 3XRTT in full CDMA 2000?

Seems like HDR is to enhance IS 95 in the intermediate term.

What happens to IXTT during that time period before 3XRTT?

Does IXRTT continue alongside HDR in the same system simultaneously or does HDR replace IXRTT until 3XRTT happens?

Not clear whether complimentary or choices of separte upgrade paths?

Or is the point that HDR is designed to handle roburst data transmission where there is not repeat not an expectation of full CDMA 2000 in the future?
