Mobile Data and Internet

In its formal offer document of 23 December 1999, Vodafone AirTouch informed Mannesmann shareholders that it was in the process of finalising the design of a single global internet platform. This platform is a central element of Vodafone AirTouch's strategy for mobile data and internet. This strategy builds on the extensive experience already in place within the Group and has been under development for some time. Vodafone AirTouch is now ready to announce its plans for the structure and operation of the global platform together with details of the other elements of its global strategy for mobile data and internet.

Vodafone AirTouch will present its mobile data and internet strategy on Tuesday 11 January 2000 at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, EC1 at the following times:

Commenting on the planned presentation Chris Gent, Chief Executive of Vodafone AirTouch said, "Together Vodafone AirTouch and Mannesmann will be better placed than either company alone - especially in the exciting area of mobile data and internet. Our presentation will highlight the exceptional mobile data and internet opportunity for Mannesmann shareholders who accept our offer".

Availability of documents relating to the offer

The formal offer for Mannesmann by Vodafone AirTouch was launched on 23 December 1999 and will close on 7 February 2000. All the offer documentation required by the German Takeover Code has been available since 23 December 1999.

The Listing Particulars to register the New Vodafone AirTouch Shares to be issued upon completion of the offer have been available since 22 December 1999. The Listing Particulars have been recognised as a selling prospectus in Germany by the German Supervisory Authority for Securities Trading (Bundesaufsichtsamt fr den Wertpapierhandel). As planned, for convenience, the Listing Particulars will also be available in German from 11 January 2000.

Following the presentation on Vodafone AirTouch's global strategy for mobile data and internet, a brochure summarising details of the strategy will also be available to Mannesmann shareholders.
