Rocket Man, if John's post accurately describes the totality of TiVo's technology, it seems to me that the "interactive" element of TiVo does not apply to a program guide but applies to the ability of the viewer to control ...

Steve, let me quote from a flyer I picked up on TiVo yesterday at Best Buy:

"You'll never miss your favorite shows again. With the 'Season Pass' option, Tivo automatically records your favorite programs every time they are on. Tivo can even find great shows that you never knew existed. When you rate a TV show with the 'thumbs up' and 'thumbs down' ratings buttons on the Philips remote, the Tivo personal TV receiver learns your likes and dislikes. Tivo then seraches through thousands of programs to find shows similar to the ones you like and records them for you to view when you want."

So I don't know, you tell me, does that apply to the control function or to the program guide function. Seems like a fine line...

Addition: look at this, from the TiVo thread. In particular, look at the comments about potential litigation in the linked story.
