Just met a Japanese gent who showed me his Hitachi CDMAOne phone. It was about 1 1/4" wide, about the same length and depth as my Q thin phone (model 1960). It was about 2/3 the weight of the Q unit. Embossed on the reverse "digital by Qualcomm". It allows internet access (actually the Kanji characters may be more efficient on the small screen than Roman characters. He subscribes via a DDI service, got the phone free and pays a base rate of about $35.00 per month, incoming calls free.

Anecdotally, the Newport Japan fund portfolio manager told me was very bullish on DDI and its alliances.

I see this as positive for QCOM.
