SST Responds to Federal Court ofAppeals' Ruling

January 7, 2000 08:45 AM
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 2000--SST (Silicon Storage Technology, Inc.) SSTI today responded to the recent Federal Court of Appeals' ruling which reversed an earlier District Court decision to invalidate Atmel Corporation's '811 patent.

"We believe that the recent decision of the Federal Circuit overturning a ruling that the '811 patent is invalid should have no effect on SST and its customers," said Bing Yeh, president and CEO of SST in response to a press release issued yesterday by Atmel. "Before the '811 patent had been ruled invalid in a case in which SST was not involved, an Administrative Law judge at the International Trade Commission had already ruled that SST's products did not infringe the '811 patent. The Administrative Law judge's finding of non-infringement still must be adopted by the Commission, but we are confident that it will be adopted and that no exclusion order will be issued," he said.

Yeh also stated his belief that the District Court action between Atmel and SST would result in a similar finding of non-infringement.
