Re: <Gateway just got the Athlon webpages up!>

I decided to price Select (Athlon 600) and a Performance (P3-600) for comparison. The Select had very few choices but satisfied most of what I am looking for in a system (except I only want a CD-R/W and it is bundled with a 17/40 CD-ROM). {EDIT: on further review the choices were very similar just not all the choices offered by other vendors -- such as NT.} The overall price difference was Select lower by $106. Shifting over to Pricewatch the difference in best price between the two processors was $80. The remaining $20 could easily be motherboard costs...

Based on these assumptions, it doesn't appear that AMD offered a sweet deal on Athlon 600 to Gateway. And hopefully AMD yields for 600 are such that they can support this volume. Has anyone seen a firm report that the 500 has been discontinued as has been stated on some web sites?
