The implication I'm seeing are more global and does essentially involve broadband. AOL didn't just decide to now include cable as well as internet service. The internet and media programming now has a tangible entity in this merger for what had been formerly a vision. My vision sees all internet infrastructure necessary to achieve media delivery, i.e.high speed transport be it DSL/cable/wireless and of course optical backbone capacity growth, now pulled by consumer demand beyond just faster internet access. AOL is mapping out that you will be able to go to that rock concert, opera, boxing match etc.,if you have a high speed bandwidth provider. A tangible psychological reality to the importance of the internet most of the world understands has been created, even if, in the long run, the internet's importance is much more profound than that.
